About Our School...

Galveston Elementary, home of the Lions, has served the central Chandler community for 60 years, opening our doors in 1963 as one of the first elementary schools in the Chandler Unified School District. As a dedicated community of educators, students, parents, and volunteers, Galveston has set our vision to focus on Lion Pride, community engagement, and overall student wellness. We are accomplishing this vision by meeting the individual needs of our students with compassion and helping them

recognize academic growth and potential. As we transition into our new campus, we will engage students with classroom practices that include: quality service learning experiences, rigorous and relevant teaching, reading and writing connections across all content areas, and happy classrooms. We are proud of our community school, and we invite you to choose Galveston and become part of our community where “Lion Pride is deep inside!”

― Tony Alcala, Principal

Why Choose Galveston

Galveston Elementary, home of the Lions, has served the central Chandler community for 50 years, opening our doors in 1963 as one of the first elementary schools in the Chandler Unified School District.  As a united community of educators, students, parents, and volunteers, Galveston has set our vision to be recognized and respected as one of the most passionate groups invested in education.  We are accomplishing this vision by meeting the individual needs of our students and helping them recognize academic growth through a thoughtful belief system and effective classroom practices that include:  authentic learning experiences, high cognitive demand, reading and writing connections across all content areas, and student learning supported with an abundance texts offered in all of our classrooms. Galveston is most proud of the growth we have been able to sustain over the last few years, moving out of school improvement as an Underperforming school to recently earning a "B" letter grade from the Arizona Department of Education.

We want you to choose Galveston and be a part of our "Lion Pride."

Our campus community recently experienced a beautiful rebuild project that renovated our 60+ year old building. Visit CUSD's website for more information:
